I grew up with a rouge tinted heart.
Some of my earliest, fondest and most treasured memories are of makeup and the nuances I associate with them. Like the odd way my mom's crimson lipstick stained my hands and cheeks when I got home from pre-school or the fascinating pre-prom rituals my older sister underwent with her friends as they smeared, smushed and blotted vermillion pigments on their pouts. Then there was Mulan with her rosy cheeks, the neighbor with the ruby eyeshadow, the life changing professor that wore much-too-red liner, and the boy with a cerise stain at the corner of his mouth in the shape of my lips.
Till this day, the nuances are still what I love most about makeup, and just like every flip of a page tells more of a story, I'm pretty sure that every new favorite cosmetic I have is going to come with a damn good memory. Rouge is my color and I identify with it more than any other. There is nothing more that I want to do than to paint the town with it, but I think I'll take a step away from my rouge from time to time and see what those other lovely colors - and the new products they are encased in - have to offer.
But before I start, there are some things you need to know:
1. My name is Megan, short for Margaret (how that happened I will never fully understand, if you do, let me know).
2. I identify with both Filipino and Singaporean culture.
3. I have skin that loves to shine like bacon has just been cooked on it by the time its one in the afternoon - this is regrettable. And,
4. I am not an expert. (Well, at least not yet.)
I can't tell you which designer made the orange grungy eye a trend, nor can I name every single MAC brush's number by heart. I don't think I even know what my skin tone is anymore. But what I can give you are honest opinions on what the market has to offer, products to turn to when you find yourself in a nearly-broke-but-fresh-out-of-everything situation, and, maybe, a good story or two about makeup mishaps to help you avoid the same situation.
Cheers x
Now if I could just get someone to help me figure out how to fix the layout of this thing.
